img17, originally known as England, Birmingham, Selfridges, exterior view, is a wallpaper included in Windows 7 as part of the Architecture theme, licensed from Getty Images. It was taken by Andreas Stirnberg. It is an exterior view of the Selfridges Building, which is part of the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, England, UK.
Microsoft made noticeable changes to the wallpaper: the cloud was moved from the bottom to near the top of the image, and another building left of Selfridges was removed, likely to make the wallpaper seem cleaner. Some versions of this image also have a paler sky, although this is most likely to do with the color space the image uses. img18, another wallpaper included in the Architecture theme, also went under noticeable changes, as Microsoft also removed the buildings by blurring them out.
Stirnberg also took another shot of the building, which was vertical as opposed to horizontal. Both images became restricted assets in early 2020 when Getty discontinued rights-managed licensing in favor of royalty free licensing; both were not converted to royalty free, so they were taken down in late 2020.
