lift-off, originally known as Space Shuttle launch and known as Rocket Launch in Windows Live Messenger is a user account/display picture included in Windows XP and Windows Live Messenger, licensed from PhotoDisc. It is unknown who took it, but it is credited to Stocktrek on Getty Images. It depicts space shuttle Challenger launching into space at Kennedy Space Center, Merritt Island, Florida, USA, although it is unknown what mission the launch was a part of. However, it would have been taken between 1983 and 1986, the years its first and last missions took place, with the final mission resulting in the space shuttle disintegrating and killing all seven crew members. A high res version appears on PhotoDisc CD Spacescapes, along with a few other photos of Challenger.
